Traditional Irish musicians Rory Makem and Donal Clancy will perform at the Flying Bison Brewing Co. 840 Seneca St. Buffalo at 7PM on Wednesday, September 11 2019. The concert is sponsored by Buffalo’s Martin Wynne branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.
The duo of Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy had a HUGE impact on folk music around the world in the 1970s and 80s. Many songs and memorable performances came from the duo. Some of their recordings have passed into “classic” status in many collections.
Now, their sons Rory Makem and Donal Clancy, no strangers to impactful music themselves, have decided to get together to explore the magic of their fathers while bringing their own very different experiences and talents to the mix.
Rory Makem and Dónal Clancy, the sons of Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy respectively, are justifiably proud of their families storied place in Irish music, and both had the opportunity to perform with their famous fathers over the years. They’ve also forged their own musical paths.
It is no surprise that Rory and Dónal are each acclaimed Irish singers and musicians as well as masterful storytellers with a witty and charming stage presence.
